वीतरागभयक्रोधः स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते ॥२- ५६॥

Transliteration

duHkheShwanudwignamanaaH sukheShu wigataspRRihaH ।

wiitaraagabhayakrodhaH sthitadhiirmuniruchyate ॥२- ५६॥

Translation

In sorrow serene-minded, in happiness avoiding gluttony,
[One] established in freedom from passion, fear, anger, is called "monk."

Translation

A person whose mind is unperturbed by sorrow, who does not crave pleasures, and who is free from attachment, fear, and anger; such a person is called a sage of steady Prajna.

Translation

One who is not disturbed in spite of the threefold miseries, who is not elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind.
