अथ चैनं नित्यजातं नित्यं वा मन्यसे मृतम् ।
तथापि त्वं महाबाहो नैवं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥२- २६॥
atha chainaM nityajaataM nityaM waa manyase mRRitam ।
tathaapi twaM mahaabaaho naiwaM shochitumarhasi ॥२- २६॥

And if you consider this [as] constantly birthing or constantly dying,
Even then, O great-armed one, it is inappropriate for you to grieve it.

If you think that this (body) takes birth and dies perpetually, even then, O Arjuna, you should not grieve like this.
If, however, you think that the soul is perpetually born and always dies, still you still have no reason to lament, O mighty-armed.
