दूरेण ह्यवरं कर्म बुद्धियोगाद्धनंजय ।
बुद्धौ शरणमन्विच्छ कृपणाः फलहेतवः ॥२- ४९॥

dooreNa hyawaraM karma buddhiyogaaddhanaMjaya ।

Translation
Avoid inferior actions by the wisdom of yoga, O Dhananjay,
Seeking refuge in wisdom. The causes of fruits are wretched.

Translation
Work done with selfish motives is inferior by far to the selfless service or Karma-yoga. Therefore be a Karma-yogi, O Arjuna. Those who seek (to enjoy) the fruits of their work are verily unhappy (because one has no control over the results).
Translation
O Dhananjaya, rid yourself of all fruitive activities by devotional service, and surrender fully to that consciousness. Those who want to enjoy the fruits of their work are misers.
