नियतस्य तु संन्यासः कर्मणो नोपपद्यते ।
मोहात्तस्य परित्यागस्तामसः परिकीर्तितः ॥१८- ७॥
niyatasya tu saMnyaasaH karmaNo nopapadyate ।
mohaattasya parityaagastaamasaH parikiirtitaH ॥१८- ७॥

Eschew renunciation of prescribed actions.
Their relinquishment out of temptation is proclaimed tamasic.

Renunciation of obligatory work (or duty) is not proper. The abandonment of duty is due to delusion, and is declared to be Taamasika Tyaaga.
Prescribed duties should never be renounced. If, by illusion, one gives up his prescribed duties, such renunciation is said to be in the mode of ignorance.
