यदग्रे चानुबन्धे च सुखं मोहनमात्मनः ।
निद्रालस्यप्रमादोत्थं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम् ॥१८- ३९॥

Transliteration

yadagre chaanubandhe cha sukhaM mohanamaatmanaH ।

nidraalasyapramaadotthaM tattaamasamudaahRRitam ॥१८- ३९॥

Translation

The joy that, both in the beginning and at the end, distracts from the soul,
Arising from sleep, sloth, negligence, that exemplifies tamas.

Translation

Pleasure that deludes a person in the beginning and in the end; which comes from sleep, laziness, and confusion; such pleasure is called Taamasika (pleasure).

Translation

And that happiness which is blind to self-realization, which is delusion from beginning to end and which arises from sleep, laziness and illusion is said to be of the nature of ignorance.
