दुःखमित्येव यत्कर्म कायक्लेशभयात्त्यजेत् ।
स कृत्वा राजसं त्यागं नैव त्यागफलं लभेत् ॥१८- ८॥
duHkhamityewa yatkarma kaayakleshabhayaattyajet ।
sa kRRitwaa raajasaM tyaagaM naiwa tyaagaphalaM labhet ॥१८- ८॥

Whoever, relinquishing actions only out of suffering, bodily difficulty, fear,
He, doing tamasic relinquishment, accrues no fruits from relinquishment.

One who abandons duty merely because it is difficult, or because of fear of bodily trouble, does not get the benefits of Tyaaga by performing such Raajasika Tyaaga.
Anyone who gives up prescribed duties as troublesome, or out of fear, is said to be in the mode of passion. Such action never leads to the elevation of renunciation.
