कृषिगौरक्ष्यवाणिज्यं वैश्यकर्म स्वभावजम् ।
परिचर्यात्मकं कर्म शूद्रस्यापि स्वभावजम् ॥१८- ४४॥
kRRiShigaurakShyawaaNijyaM waishyakarma swabhaawajam ।
paricharyaatmakaM karma shoodrasyaapi swabhaawajam ॥१८- ४४॥

Agriculture, cattle-raising, commerce [are] vaishya acts deriving from [their] character.
Acts of the nature of servitude derive from the character of shudras.

Those who are good in cultivation, cattle rearing, business, trade, and industry are known as Vaishyas. Those who do service and labor type work are classed as Shudras.
Farming, cow protection and business are the qualities of work for the vaisyas, and for the sudras there is labor and service to others.
