6:44

पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः ।
जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते ॥६- ४४॥

Transliteration

poorwaabhyaasena tenaiwa hriyate hyawasho'pi saH ।

jidnyaasurapi yogasya shabdabrahmaatiwartate ॥६- ४४॥

Translation

It is by this former study that one is impelled in spite of oneself,
Even the curiosity for yoga sends [one] beyond the scriptures.

Translation

The unsuccessful yogi is instinctively carried towards Brahman by virtue of Sanskaara (or the impressions) of yogic practices of previous lives. Even the inquirer of Brahman surpasses those who perform Vedic rituals.

Translation

By virtue of the divine consciousness of his previous life, he automatically becomes attracted to the yogic principles--even without seeking them. Such an inquisitive transcendentalist, striving for yoga, stands always above the ritualistic principles of the scriptures.
