6:19

यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेङ्गते सोपमा स्मृता ।
योगिनो यतचित्तस्य युञ्जतो योगमात्मनः ॥६- १९॥

Transliteration

yathaa diipo niwaatastho ne~Ngate sopamaa smRRitaa ।

yogino yatachittasya yuJNjato yogamaatmanaH ॥६- १९॥

Translation

As a lamp in windless place does not flicker, by well-known simile,

[So is] the controlled consciousness of a yogi while practicing union with the Self.

Translation

As a lamp in a spot sheltered (by Brahman) from the wind (of desires) does not flicker, this simile is used for the subdued mind of a yogi practicing meditation on Brahman.

Translation

As a lamp in a windless place does not waver, so the transcendentalist, whose mind is controlled, remains always steady in his meditation on the transcendent Self.
