3:9
यज्ञार्थात्कर्मणोऽन्यत्र लोकोऽयं कर्मबन्धनः ।
तदर्थं कर्म कौन्तेय मुक्तसङ्गः समाचर ॥३- ९॥
yadnyaarthaatkarmaNo'nyatra loko'yaM karmabandhanaH ।
tadarthaM karma kaunteya muktasa~NgaH samaachara ॥३- ९॥

Other than actions for sacrifice, this existence is bound by action.
O son of Kunti, for the sake of that, practice action free from attachment.

Human beings are bound by Karma (or works) other than those done as Yajna. Therefore, O Arjuna, do your duty efficiently as a service or Seva to Me, free from attachment to the fruits of work.
Work done as a sacrifice for Visnu has to be performed, otherwise work binds one to this material world. Therefore, O son of Kunti, perform your prescribed duties for His satisfaction, and in that way you will always remain unattached and free from bondage.
