बहूनि मे व्यतीतानि जन्मानि तव चार्जुन ।
तान्यहं वेद सर्वाणि न त्वं वेत्थ परन्तप ॥४-५॥

shriibhagawaanuwaacha
bahooni me wyatiitaani janmaani tawa chaarjuna ।
taanyahaM weda sarwaaNi na twaM wettha parantapa ॥४-५॥
yena bhootaanyasheSheNa drakShyasyaatmanyatho mayi ॥४-३५॥

The blessed lord said,
Many of my births have passed, and of yours, O Arjun.
I know all of them. You do not know them, O foe-scorcher.
The blessed lord said,
Many births of mine have transpired, O Arjun, and of yours. I know all of them. You do not know them, O foe-scorcher.

The Supreme Lord said: Both you and I have taken many births. I remember them all, O Arjuna, but you do not remember.
The Blessed Lord said: Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, O subduer of the enemy!
