14:6
तत्र सत्त्वं निर्मलत्वात्प्रकाशकमनामयम् ।
सुखसङ्गेन बध्नाति ज्ञानसङ्गेन चानघ ॥१४- ६॥
tatra sattwaM nirmalatwaatprakaashakamanaamayam ।
sukhasa~Ngena badhnaati dnyaanasa~Ngena chaanagha ॥१४- ६॥

Of these, sattva, by its purity, is an illuminator and harmless.
[It] binds through attachment to happiness and attachment to knowledge, O sinless one.

Of these, Sattva, being calm, is illuminating and ethical. It fetters the embodied being, the Jeevaatma or Purusha, by attachment to happiness and knowledge, O Arjuna.
O sinless one, the mode of goodness being purer than the others, is illuminating, and it frees one from all sinful reactions. Those situated in that mode develop knowledge, but they become conditioned by the concept of happiness.
