सत्त्वात्संजायते ज्ञानं रजसो लोभ एव च ।
प्रमादमोहौ तमसो भवतोऽज्ञानमेव च ॥१४- १७॥
sattwaatsaMjaayate dnyaanaM rajaso lobha ewa cha ।
pramaadamohau tamaso bhawato'dnyaanamewa cha ॥१४- १७॥

From sattva arises knowledge, and but greed from tamas,
Negligence, temptation arise from tamas, and but ignorance.
