13:12

ज्ञेयं यत्तत्प्रवक्ष्यामि यज्ज्ञात्वामृतमश्नुते ।
अनादि मत्परं ब्रह्म न सत्तन्नासदुच्यते ॥१३- १२॥

Transliteration

dnyeyaM yattatprawakShyaami yajdnyaatwaamRRitamashnute ।

anaadi matparaM brahma na sattannaasaduchyate ॥१३- १२॥

Translation

What is to be known, that I elucidate, being informed of which immortality is attained.
That beginningless supreme Brahma is said neither to be nor not to be.

Translation

I shall fully describe the object of knowledge, knowing which one attains immortality. The beginningless Supreme Brahman is said to be neither Sat nor Asat. (See also 9.19)

Translation

I shall now explain the knowable, knowing which you will taste the eternal. This is beginningless, and it is subordinate to Me. It is called Brahman, the spirit, and it lies beyond the cause and effect of this material world.
