शरीरं यदवाप्नोति यच्चाप्युत्क्रामतीश्वरः ।
गृहित्वैतानि संयाति वायुर्गन्धानिवाशयात् ॥१५- ८॥
shariiraM yadawaapnoti yachchaapyutkraamatiishwaraH ।
gRRihitwaitaani saMyaati waayurgandhaaniwaashayaat ॥१५- ८॥

So the lord assumes a body, and even leaves a body,
Taking these, departs, like wind fragrance from receptacles.

As the air takes away the aroma from the source (or flower), similarly Atma takes the six sensory faculties from the physical body it casts off (during death) to the (new physical) body it acquires (in reincarnation by the power of Karma). (See also 2.13)
The living entity in the material world carries his different conceptions of life from one body to another as the air carries aromas.
